archival framing – protecting your art

We offer fully archival framing. This involves using appropriate materials and techniques to protect and conserve your art work for the longest possible time. Conservation quality materials and methods used in this workshop include the use of acid-free mount boards and backing to discourage the discolouration or oxidisation of papers, and foxing. Moisture resistant and PH neutral backing materials are used to discourage the penetration of moisture which can lead to mould growth. All means of attaching the artwork are acid free and reversible where possible. When required, ultra-violet filtering glazing materials are used to minimise the damaging effects of sunlight.
If your work on paper, photograph or oil painting is damaged we can arrange off-site restoration services.

where to find us

The workshop is located at 53 Victoria Rd, Rozelle, next door to Australian Natural Timber Framing.
From the city, cross Anzac Bridge then turn right at Robert St, first left into Crescent St and up the drive to no. 53 for free parking at the rear of the building.
The workshop is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday, or outside these hours by appointment.

prices

Prices vary widely according to size and type of frame and mounting. Because of differences in the specific requirements of the artwork or object, hand-finished, painted, gilded or more complicated framing must be priced in the workshop. Quotes given over the phone are a general guide – for a firm costing it is best to bring the art work in.
